BREEDING
Before you breed your pair you have to make sure that it’s a true pair. By that I mean one should be a MALE and the other should be a FEMALE.
Male(cock) has a BLUE Cere.(the skin above the nose)
Female(hen) has a brown Cere.(the skin above the nose)
Now you have a true pair.
For sucessful breeding you must have the same number of male and females.
Budgies don’t build nests so you have to provide them with one. The best way of breeding budgies is to provide them with a nest box. Which can be placed either in side or out side the cage. Depending on the size of the cage

The ideal time to breed budgies is in spring.because the conditions are best for youn chicks.you will know when you budgies are ready to breed the cock(male) will feed the hen(female) by regurgutated food the hen will do the same and would start to look for a nesting place.

Budgies or parakeets usually lay about 5 or 6 eggs.one every other day.male feeds the female while she’s incubating the eggs.
A good pair will raise about 3 clutches of babies a year if a nest box is available. This is very hard on the birds responsible owners control the birth rate by removing the nest box or by getting rid of the eggs as they are laid. (Always remmber that the more youngester you have the more homes you have to find for them and finding good home is a hard job).

THE YOUNG
Incubating period lasts for a 18 days. The babies hatch on alternative days. They are born blind and naked their eyes start to open on the sixth day. And by that time their feathers start to grow. The babies spent about 4 weeks in the nest and additional 2 more weeks in the breeding cage. In those additional 2 weeks the cock teaches them how to eat hard seeds and teaches them how to fly.
At this time babies should not be disturbed hen spends a lot of time with her chicks in the nest box. While in the nest box the cock feeds the hen and the she feeds the chicks. The entire family depends on the cock. The chicks are not fully fledged until 5 to 6 weeks.
